IKV TRIBOLOGY support the recommendations laid down by ISO / DIS 14159 advising use of only food grade lubricants in all applications on a food production site to avoid confusion or accidental contamination from non-food grade lubricants in the food processing environment.
Choosing lubricants for use within food and pharmaceutical processing & manufacturing equipment poses several problems to the engineer, firstly the products must be totally non-toxic and satisfy the regulations for non-food compounds used in food manufacturing plants.
These strict guidelines mean products are selected based upon their use/classification with either incidental food contact, NSF H1, or NSF 3H with direct food contact.
Secondly they must perform well as lubricants, often extreme high or low temperatures or aggressive cleaning processes are encountered, all of which can adversely affect the life of the lubricant.
In bakery applications, for example, the ovens can reach above 300C. Conveying components, chains, bearings and other components operating in these conditions can often require frequent relubrication or cleaning to remove unwanted lubricant residue build up.

IKV TRIBOFOOD GBX SHC Range are NSF H-1 registered high performance synthetic oils with excellent anti-wear properties, high oxidation stability, a low freezing point, high shear resistance and high temperature stability. These oils are used for the lubrication of reducer wheels, worm bearings and chains. They are also suitable as machine circulation fluids.
IKV TRIBOFOOD GBX Range are NSF registered semi-synthetic oils. They have good resistance to high loads and are used widely as gear oils although they are also suitable for the lubrication of rolling bearings, plain bearings, slides and chains under high mechanical stress.
IKV TRIBOFOOD CHN Range are NSF registered synthetic oils for the lubrication of chains up to temperatures of 200-220°C. They offer good resistance to loads and owing to their excellent adhesion and do not drip. These oils are suitable for the lubrication of all types of industrial transport chains, food industry chains and ovens, paint oven chains and equipment and drying tunnels.
IKV TRIBOFOOD HLQ Range are NSF H-1 registered oils with a low freezing point, high viscosity indices, good shear strength and anti-foaming properties. They also offer effective protection against corrosion. They are widely used hydraulic and general lubricating oils for bearings, slides and chains exposed to temperatures from -60 to 150°C.
ZAROX OYN 51, IKV FLUOR 32, IKV FLUOR 70, IKV FLUOR 150 and IKV FLUOR 250 are PFPE synthetic oils with high heat and chemical resistance for extended re-lubrication frequencies. They are compatible with most plastics and rubbers including EPDM and are used in the food industry on oven chains for temperatures up to 260°C in continuous use.
