Assembly Lubricants

This range of products has been developed to aid the assembly or fitting of components made of rubber, plastic or other difficult to assemble materials. They are manufactured from fully synthetic products, available as fluids, gels and even dry film coatings with variable concentrations according to the needs of the application.

The products have been designed with the following properties:

•    Ease of application
•    Compatibility with all plastics, rubbers and paints
•    Reduction in the co-efficient of friction, aids smooth, stick-slip free movement
•    Temporary, semi-permanent or permanent effect, depending upon application requirement

Many of these formulations are available with a UV tracer to provide a means of ensuring the material presence after application.

They meet the requirements of manufacturers, easing assembly of components and thus gaining productivity and reducing fitting efforts without migration.

They can be applied by spraying, dipping, soaking, or wiped on with a felt applicator. Generally the materials are applied in small doses depending on the geometry of the parts and the desired effect.

IKV manufacture a full range of assembly aids including:-

IKV TRIBOLINE PE 14 is a low concentration PFPE fluid used to aid the assembly of rear lights and panel seals in the automotive industry. It is non-greasey, does not migrate or creep, does not attract dust and dirt and avoids staining. Temperature range of -40 to 180°C.

IKV TRIBOLINE PE 141-14 is a high concentration PFPE fluid used to aid the assembly of rear lights and panel seals in the automotive industry. It allows parts which have been in storage for a long time to be easily fitted. Temperature range -40 to 180°C.

IKV TRIBOLINE PE 161-14 is used for more difficult fittings such as neoprene encapsulated windscreens. Temperature range -40 to 180°C.

IKV TRIBOLINE PE 275 is a white, highly concentrated PFPE fluid used to facilitate the fitting of encapsulated glass on commercial vehicles. Temperature range -30 to 280°C.

IKV TRIBOLINE SV-3 is a synthetic fluid that is applied to plastic or rubber parts to facilitate fitting to bodywork. A thin film is applied to window runners, door and windscreen seals. Temperature range -35 to 180°C.

IKV TRIBOLINE SV-6 is a synthetic fluid that is applied to plastic or rubber parts to facilitate fitting to bodywork. A thin film is applied to window runners, door and windscreen seals. Temperature range -35 to 180°C.

IKV ASTARGEL G-0 & G-1 are semi-permanent, synthetic gels which are applied to areas according to their accessibility and component shape to facilitate later application to vehicle bodywork. They are recommended for the most difficult assembly operations. Temperature range -35 to 180°C.

IKV TRIBOLINE PE 1503 / IKV TRIBOLINE PE 15-10 / IKV TRIBOLINE PE 1523 / IKV TRIBOLINE PE 1563 / IKV TRIBOLINE PE 1573 are synthetic semi-permanent fluids which are applied to plastic or rubber parts during production. They are recommended in particular for the vulcanisation of hoses to allow them to be removed from the mandrel and later fitted. Temperature range -30 to 180°C.

IKV FILMSEC 1602 is a PFPE fluid which enables a friction reducing coating to be applied totally dry, with no risk of running or post-operative staining. Temperature range -40 to 260°C.

IKV FILMSEC 1610 is a PFPE fluid with PTFE thickener which enables a friction reducing coating to be applied totally dry, with no risk of running or post-operative staining. It enables easier fitting because of the microsweating of perfluorinated fluids. Temperature range -40 to 260°C.

IKV ASTARGEL 1790 is a special clear, water based, lubricating fluid gel that considerably reduces the co-efficient of friction between plastic or rubber parts and the supports on which they are mounted, to aid assembly. It is designed to minimise dripping, avoiding the risk of streaks or running when applied. After the water content ‘carrier’ has evaporated, the product turns into a dry, translucent and uniform film with the necessary properties to help ensure the part does not move further. Once set this film is dry to the touch and will not attract dust or debris and it does not contaminate other surfaces which come into contact with it.

IKV ASTARGEL 1790 can be used for all plastics, rubbers and metals to facilitate mounting and ensure free fitting without creating stresses and stretching within the part. The product can make the fitting of components considerably easier, reducing the required force and helping reduce the likelihood of operator RSI in repetitive or difficult operations.

IKV ASTARGEL 1790 is best applied pure using a soft brush, sponge or other similar applicator, excess product can be removed before drying using a wet sponge. It is designed to ensure maximum safety for the user: it contains neither solvents nor petroleum products and does not release Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
